Restore Damaged Teeth With Fillings & Sealants

Fillings are widely used to repair and restore damaged teeth that have decayed or been infected. A filling can restore the natural look and function to your tooth and improve the health and beauty of your smile.

If you have a tooth damaged by decay, we will recommend a filling. First, we will remove all decayed material from the tooth and then, clean the entire infected area. Fillings are also beneficial because they can seal off the open area in the tooth to avoid any bacteria entering, causing more infection.

Silver and composite filling options are available. There are pros and cons to each option, so trust us to help recommend the best filling option for your needs. Trust the Bryan T. Stump, D.M.D. - Family Dentistry to help you repair damaged teeth and improve the health of your mouth! Contact us to help you with early cavity detection and cavity fillings.
Dental Filling

Types of Fillings

Silver fillings were the standard choice for many years to restore tooth decay. They are made up of 50% silver / tin alloy and 50% mercury, so silver fillings can be placed quickly and are durable as well as economical.

Silver fillings are more noticeable than composite fillings but they are more durable (they last for about 10-12 years) and are less expensive.

Composite fillings are another great option, but they're also a bit more expensive. The composite fillings are made of quartz-like material is more attractive, virtually invisible as well as non-toxic and environmentally friendly as they contain no mercury. However, they last about half the time when compared to amalgam / silver fillings.
