Pediatric Dental Care

Dental care should start early in life to ensure optimal health! Let the team at Bryan T. Stump, D.M.D. - Family Dentistry keep your child's teeth healthy throughout every stage of life with elite pediatric dental care and services. We recommend that children visit us for a checkup at three years old so they can get used to having their teeth cared for in a friendly way!

Our dentist will offer:
  • A thorough exam for tooth decay
  • Exam of your child's gums and soft tissues
  • Examination of your child's bite
  • Early detection for any problems
  • A review of how to clean your child's teeth
  • Address all questions or concerns
*Children's dentistry is behavior dependent. Parents are allowed to be chairside if it allows the child to be more comfortable during the exam.

If it is your child's first trip to the dentist. Taking your child for a preview of the office, reading books with them about visiting the dentist, discussing what the dentist might do during their first visit and also speaking positively about your own dental experiences might prove to be helpful.

Preventative Dental Care for Children

Our dentist will offer various preventative services to ensure your child's teeth, mouth and gums develop properly. Children will also get sealants placed on their 6 and 12-month molars to avoid the development of cavities. A sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the surface of a tooth that seals the cracks and grooves shut to prevent cavities from forming in the future.

Fluoride treatments will also be offered twice a year to help your child grow strong adult teeth. Fluoride can also help deter the build-up of plaque and prevents decay on baby teeth.

Cavity prevention tips:
  • Provide your child with healthy snack foods such as fruits and vegetables
  • Avoid giving your child sugary foods and drinks, go sugar-free
  • Don't let your child have sticky foods unless they brush right afterward
  • Teach your children about cavities and the importance of healthy teeth!
